Witness. That’s all.

Posted on September 9, 2025

When Jesus called His followers to be His witnesses, He never asked us to be expert witnesses. He simply asked us to be faithful ones. That truth is both freeing and encouraging—especially for those of us who often feel intimidated or insecure when it comes to sharing our faith.

This hit home personally this past weekend. I attended a gathering where I caught a glimpse of what God has been up to in the lives of those where I’ve tried to be a light for Jesus. For decades I have prayed and imperfectly shared about my faith in the goodness of God. I’m still waiting to see the individuals I pray for most fervently to begin walking with Him. And yet: their children are—and they are raising their children to know and love Jesus. What a beautiful reminder that God’s work through our faithful prayers and witness often takes time, sometimes even generations, to become effective.

A wise man I know recently said, “There’s nothing to worry about because you are simply a tool.” You’re not in charge of the workmanship or the results. You just need to be willing to be a tool in the hand of the Master and trust Him to make something beautiful. That perspective shifts the weight off of us and onto the One who saves.

So, don’t grow weary. Keep praying. Keep declaring what the Lord has done in your life.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9).
