What an exciting week we’ve had at NCBC Kids! Royals Day Camp taught 99 campers about our perfect King Jesus. An amazing team of volunteers poured their love out to give those kids an experience to remember. We had elementary Go Groups kids running tech and leading worship. Middle school and high school students led games, crafts, and made the Bible come to life in our Bible Experience rooms. And many students, young adults, moms and grandmas served food and served as small group leaders. I am so thankful to God that all ages were able to come together and have this sacred fun celebration of His goodness!
The theme of camp was Royals and we spent the week contrasting human kings from the Bible who lived and led “Me first. My way” and King Jesus who came humble, served others, and always lived and led “God first. God’s way.”
What a simple way to define sin. Me first. My way. Even a four-year-old can understand. But its simplicity doesn’t change its amount of conviction. Me first and my way creep and seep into every facet of my life. Family life, work life, even going to the store or driving my car–there’s a constant pull in my heart to go first and get my own way. I am so thankful for King Jesus! His perfect life and death and resurrection made a way for me to be delivered from my wretched, selfish heart!
It’s no wonder marriage is such hard work! Two people, each (hopefully) struggling against the urge to live me first, my way, is a recipe for friction at the very least, but more likely repeated explosions. We need encouragement and instruction on how to build a lifelong marriage based on God first, God’s way.
That is why NCBC is hosting a wonderful marriage event. This great date night will include a catered dinner followed by a live simulcast event brought to you by RightNow Media. Featured special guest speakers are Matt & Lauren Chandler, Conway & Jada Edwards, Les & Leslie Parrott, and even comedian Michael James. Register now for Marriage Night! September 12. 5:30-9:30 PM. $30 per couple. Registration is required. Dinner is provided. I hope you’ll join us for an evening to laugh, learn, and grow in your marriage.
We had several children trust Jesus at Day Camp! Being baptized is a natural next step for followers of Jesus. Our Summer Picnic and Baptism is scheduled for August 5, 2020. Picnic starts at 5:45 PM and baptisms start at 7:00 PM. Please let me know if you or your child are interested in publicly declaring your faith in Christ’s death and resurrection!
“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:24)
