Hope. Every generation craves it.

Posted on April 15, 2025

If we were to look at our world solely through the lens of our favorite news source or social media app, I expect we may feel despair.

Articles, Posts, Reels and Threads assault us with headlines on:

  • Destruction and death from earthquake and fire. War in the Middle East and Ukraine.
  • Arson, Drugs, Human Trafficking, Murder. Inflation and volatile financial markets.
  • Growing mental health crisis. Homelessness, Fentanyl, Measles.

If we only relied on the algorithms of bad news on our phones we’d likely lose hope.

But…there’s more to reality than the algorithm would have you believe.

Take these headlines from the past few months:

  • “Thousands Worship Jesus at SMU as UniteUS Leads Another Campus to Christ”
  • “Meet the 2 Influencers Turning Gen Z into a New Generation of Jesus Freaks”
  • “The King of Kings Sets Box Office Record for Animated Faith-Based Film”
  • “New Research: Belief in Jesus Rises, Fueled by Younger Adults”
  • “52% of Teens Are ‘Very Motivated’ to Learn About Jesus”

There’s an entire generation hungry for meaning. Hungry for better answers. Hungry for the things of God. Hungry for hope.

We have it.  We have hope. His name is Jesus.

If these trends excite you and you feel the Lord asking you to take action and get involved leading the next generation to Christ, AWESOME!  You may not need to track the UniteUS group across the country to the next college revival.

You could answer the call closer to home. You could serve right here, at New Cov, in our middle school ministry.

Middle schoolers are hungry for meaning and hope. Hungry for the things of God. And to be honest, their changing bodies are just literally truly hungry. Which means the probability of snacks as a Middle School volunteer is higher than most!

Help us bring hope in God’s Word to every generation!  Please consider being a super important person in the life of a middle schooler. Contact Justin Fortune today to find out how.

“One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4).
