Restoration. What a beautiful concept. Did you know that restoration is a 210 billion dollar industry? Homes and businesses become damaged by accidents and disasters or simply dilapidated by old age. When that happens, restoration contractors come in and fix things: carpets get dried, soot gets cleaned, entire houses get flipped.
Ever feel like life is damaged beyond repair? Are you in a struggling marriage, experiencing depression, facing a frightening health diagnosis? Do you have relationships that are falling apart, a discouraging job——or no job at all? Or are you feeling worn out, lonely or vulnerable?
If only there were a restoration specialist when human lives become damaged and dilapidated. Oh wait——there is.
Our good Father offers incredible restoration hope. He sent Jesus to earth to suffer many things so that in the midst of our suffering, we can know that He understands. He also gave us the Holy Spirit to counsel us and conform us more and more into the image of Christ. He provided the Word of God filled with faithful promises as we wait for our ultimate, eternal restoration.
I have a favorite moment each week. It’s during our worship service when I look around the room at my friends, my brothers and sisters in Christ, those I know well enough to know what they’ve suffered that week——and I join with them praising God in the midst of the struggle, while we wait, even while it still hurts.
Restoration is coming. Healing is coming. Glory is coming. Jesus is coming.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:10 ).
Persevering with you,
