I remember when I watched Pinocchio as a little girl thinking, “Boy I’m glad my nose doesn’t grow every time I tell a lie.” Later on, I thought, “It would be really helpful though if everyone else’s nose grew every time they lied!”
I’m sure glad we don’t have a bodily change come over us every time we mess up. What if, for example, any time we doubted the Word of God we couldn’t speak for months? I’m afraid our homes would be perpetually silent!
That’s just what happened to Zechariah when the angel Gabriel announced the upcoming birth of his son John, a prophet who would prepare the way for Jesus. Zechariah doubted the words of Gabriel and he was made unable to speak for months until after John was born.
This story reminds me I need to believe all the promises that God has said to me. Like Psalm 145:9, Matthew 6:31-33, John 14:1-3 and Philippians 4:6-7. Promises that our God is compassionate, He always provides, Jesus is coming back and His peace will guard our hearts.
God is believable. His Word is believable. Is there a promise of God’s that you need to believe this week? Post it somewhere you’ll see it and pray for the faith to believe.
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
It’s a joy to partner with you for God’s glory,
