What do you want to be when you grow up?
We’ve all been asked that question or asked that question at some point in our lives. Maybe when you were in kindergarten and answered something like “police officer” or “teacher” or “doctor.”
But what if the question was not “What career do you want when you become an adult…” But rather, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” Maybe your corresponding answer would be: “Serve and protect” or “Show a child how to read” or “Help the sick.”
Noble, noble goals. Noble careers often allow us to do noble things.
But what about holy things. Faithful things? Godly things? What career helps us do those?
For a Christian, we don’t need a specific career to become more like Christ. We just have to have saving faith and continue to persist in that faith.
A faith that saves is a faith that continues to grow and mature.
So the longer you follow Christ as a police officer or a teacher or a doctor, the more you will grow up to be kind, patient, honest, joyful, humble and courageous.
That’s what I want to be when I grow up.
